Africa-Press – South-Sudan. The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) Secretariat in Central Equatoria congratulated James Morgan Pitia for his appointment as the new national minister of foreign affairs and international cooperation.
On Thursday, President Salva Kiir relieved Deng Dau who had been an acting minister for the docket and replaced him with James Morgan Pitia.
The SPLM state secretariat promised to support Pitia in his new assignment to ensure that he fulfil his duties as expected.
“We reaffirmed our commitment and support to solidly stand behind you for the full implementation of the Revitalized agreement on the Resolution of Conflict in the Republic of South Sudan, reshaping the diplomatic relations and positive portray of the image of our people country” the statement addressed to the minister read in part.
The SPLM hailed Pitia’s past records saying he has all it takes to deliver especially after having excelled as a diplomat and created good image for the country.
The party also congratulated President Salva Kiir for his decision adding that Mr Pitia would achieve what had been initiated by his predecessor, Deng Dau. Mr Dau was promoted from an assistance minister position to an acting minister in the same docket after President Kiir fired his boss Mayiik Ayii Deng more than seven months ago.
