Africa-Press – South-Sudan. The third high-level meeting on environmental-related issues in the oil-producing areas kicked off today in Juba.

The meeting is also expected to discuss the status of the implementation of the 5 per cent oil share of net oil revenue for oil-producing states, Ruweng Administrative Area, and communities.

The three-day event brings state governors, administrators, members of parliament, and development partners together to discuss methods to conserve the environment and ensure proper usage of the country’s oil wealth.

The event also brought the Ministry of Petroleum and other line ministries on board to educate the people about environmental protection and the utilization of 5 per cent oil revenue for states and administrative areas to develop in oil-producing areas and South Sudan as a whole.
