Africa-Press – South-Sudan. At least 186 health students from the two colleges of Kapoeta and Torit are writing their final National Health Professional Examination Board at the Torit Health Science Institute.

According to the health officials, this year’s enrolment of the candidates in the five carders of Midwifery, Nursing, Lab-Technician, and Pharmacy, is higher compared to the last year with only about 170 health students who sat for the exams.

Addressing candidates yesterday, the Principal of Torit Health Science Institute, Tobia Omal, said it is the sixth batch the candidates sitting for the national examination since the establishment of the institute in 2015.

“Today, our sixth batch of health students are sitting for their final qualifying National Health Professional Examination Board. This exam is across South Sudan. However, normally we have two sittings: one is in June and another one is in November,” he said.

Omal was impressed by the high number of female candidates sitting this year, terming it an improvement.

“In Torit Health Science Institute, this time we have been blessed, we have seen the majority of the candidates, 54 per cent females sitting and 46 per cent percent are males, and all the total for the fresh students sitting we have 186 which combined Kapoeta health science institute the Kapoeta they don’t have a centre yet.
