Africa-Press – South-Sudan. Three people including the Secretary-General of Bor Community Youth Association were wounded after gunmen opened fire on the group at Mogiri town along the Juba-Bor Highway on Sunday, an official said.

Akur Ayuen Kou, the Chairperson of Bor Community Youth Association in Juba said his Secretary-General Wal Alier is in critical condition after suffering bullet wounds.

The incident occurred at Mogiri as the delegation was returning from Bor where it attended the grand breaking of Bor Girls Maternity Hospital.

Speaking to Eye Radio, Akur said the survivors were evacuated to Juba and are receiving treatment at King Nile Hospital in Juba.

“On their return back to Juba, there was an attack right in the middle of Mogiri town. They have left the checkpoint, then approaching to that bridge, gunmen came out and opened fire on them,” he said.

“They shot Wal in the forehead, and he is in a critical condition, but he has been taken for the operation now, and we hope the operation will go successfully.”

“The other was also shot in the arm who is the driver was shot in the arm, the other fellow also had a Sleipner in the eye.”

Neither the motive behind the attack nor the identity of the perpetrators is clear.
