Africa-Press – South-Sudan. Police have arrested the driver of a vehicle who was involved in a road accident that killed two people in Aweil West County.
Major General Philip Madut told Eye Radio two people died in a road accident in Aweil West County of Northern Bahr el Ghazal on Sunday.
He says a 28-year-old man was travelling on a motorcycle bearing plate number SSD 634 ES when he was hit by a vehicle.
Madut said the incident occurred in an area between Gomjuer and Aweil town.
The rider, whose name Gen. Madut has been identified as only Akoi, and a 42-year-old passenger named Dut died on the spot.
“Two people were using a motorcycle going from Aweil town to Aweil West, and the car coming from Aweil West when the accident happened and these two people on the motorcycle died at the scene,” he confirmed.
He added that the police arrested the vehicle driver following the accident.
Meanwhile, he called on the families of the deceased to remain calm as an investigation has been launched into the matter.
