Africa-Press – South-Sudan. The Juba High Court will review the evidence in a case where businessman Bak Ring is accusing advocate Peter Madut of defaming him.
The examination of the evidence, which will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday, entails reviewing a video clip.
Ring accuses Madut of defamation, among them claiming that Ring owes him money, among other allegations of corrupt practices.
In an hour-long video played in court on Monday, Madut explained how he was connected with the businessman and how he demanded a large amount of money from him.
The presiding judge, Nyang Wol, said the examination of evidence would resume on Tuesday and Wednesday since the video examination will take longer to complete.
Wol urged the two parties to be patient, adding that the procedures will take longer than expected.
“Today we are ending here; the examination will continue tomorrow (Tuesday–Wednesday) if we can finish it.”
He added: “One thing you all need to understand is that you need to be patient; the case is already in court, and judgement will be at the end of the court procedure.”
For the first time, the accused lawyer presented his defense team, with advocate Simon Okeny leading Ring’s legal team
Ring filed the case last year, claiming the advocate soiled his reputation on social media.
Mr. Madut went public on his Facebook account, accusing Ring of for failing to pay him more than $250,000, among other claims Ring terms “false”.
