Africa-Press – South-Sudan. The community of Nyepo in Kajo-keji county has said the recent killing in Kajo-Keji did not happen in the area as attributed to while urging for unity and reconciliation in the region.
In a statement shared with Eye Radio newsroom, the Nyepo community said the incident happened in a village called Dindiro in Litoba Boma of Kangapo 1 payam.
The ambush which happened on 18th of this month in Kajo-keji county left two people dead and two others injured.
Those killed during the incident have been identified by the local authority as Kiri Moses, a soldier, Scopas Kenyi, a civilian and their track was also burnt into ash.
“The Nyepo people have been a peaceful community from time immemorial and continues to rally behind the government of the Republic of South Sudan in its efforts to implement the revitalized agreement on the Resolution of the conflict in South Sudan (R-ARCSS).
“We the people of Nyepo reject and condemn this unfounded propaganda in the strongest terms possible. We stand united in our commitment to peace, development and the restoration of our community.
“We urge all stakeholders to prioritize the truth and work towards fostering unity and reconciliation in our region.”
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Kajo-Kaji county has condemned the attack on the staff of Clintwood General traders which happened at Litoba boma last Thursday.
Phanuel Dumo said ten staffs of Clintwood General Traders and three security personnel provided by the authorities were in Kangapo one Payam, Litoba boma, Dindiro village to mobilize the impounded logs due for sale.
“As the county authority, we strongly condemn the tragic atrocities committed by NAS group of assailants who continue killing our innocent people. I deeply pass my sincere condolence to the families of the deceased,”he said.
The attack on the staffs of Clintwood General Traders promoted Commissioner Dumo to terminate a memorandum of understanding between the company and Forestry department in the county.
On 11th December 2023, Clintwood General Traders signed an agreement with Kajo-keji county authorities to sale the impounded logs in the country.
Commissioner cite reports of fresh logging which he said is under serious investigation and is a crime.
According to him, the fresh logging was not part of the memorandum of understanding.
“I do hereby issue this order to terminate Clintwood General Traders from carrying out any activities of impounded log collection pending investigation.”
