Africa-Press – South-Sudan. The head of the steering committee for the South Sudan Clearing Agents and Freight Forwarders Association (SSCAFFA), Mawa Agumi, urged the members to unite and support the success of the union.
According to Mr. Agumi, South Sudanese youth must embrace the values of peace by abiding by the laws of change.
“Having a change is something that is inevitable for each and every one of the South Sudanese youth who needs to see prosperity in the country,” Agumi said as he spoke at the National South Sudan Clearing Agents and Freight Forwarders Association headquarters after assuming office in Juba on Tuesday. His plea came after some SSCAFFA members failed to transfer power to the newly established steering committee in time for the election. Agumi said the steering committee’s job is only to organise for the peaceful conduct of elections, adding that even former members would have a chance to contest for the best position of their choice.
The former Secretary for Finance of the SSCAFFA handed over the document to the newly formed steering committee on the behaviour of the detained former Chair, Mr. Deng Deng Geng.
The South Sudan Clearing Agents and Freight Forwarders Association’s (SSCAFFA) steering committee was sworn in last week.
The committee was tasked with the responsibility of arranging the national association’s general election within 90 days.
The committee was formed after the SSCAFFA General Assembly endorsed the vote of no confidence against its National Chairman, Mr Deng Deng Geng, for failing to follow the rules of the association and for failing to hold elections for nearly seven years.
