The Governor of Jonglei State, Denay Chagor, emphasised the need for the construction of the South Sudan-Ethiopia highway to enhance socio-economic development between the two countries.

Chagor, who met with the Ambassador of Ethiopia, Nabil Mahdi, and a delegation from human rights on Thursday in Bor, stressed the need for the construction of the road to boost the mutual relationship between South Sudan and Ethiopia in business and development.

Also, Governor Chagor raised the issue of child abduction as one of the challenges facing the residents of Jonglei State. He accused the armed youth from the Greater Pibor Administrative Area of always being the perpetrators.

He said the state government is working very hard to ensure there is peace and stability between Pibor and Jonglei State.

On his part, Nabil Mahdi, the Ethiopian ambassador to South Sudan, applauded Governor Chagor for his willingness to develop.

He promised to ensure that good cooperation between South Sudan and Ethiopia is maintained.

However, the Human Rights Commission delegation assured their commitment to helping the state government through capacity building to protect transitional justice from violations.
