Africa-Press – South-Sudan. The Governor of Unity State, Dr. Joseph Manytuil, called on Bul Nuer armed youth involved in recent clashes between Ngok-Dinka and Twic-Dinka to return home.

Manytuil, who travelled to Mayom County on Sunday upon his return from Mayendit County, appealed to the armed youth to refrain from getting involved in the Ngok and Twic Dinka conflict to avoid further escalation and atrocities.

He said the Twic, Ngok, and Bul communities have been coexisting for centuries as brothers and sisters who intermingled through intermarriage. He added that there is no need to cause insecurity amongst themselves.

He noted that Bul armed youth in Twic County and the Abyei Administrative Area should return home and stop supporting either side of the community in the conflict.

Manytuil said peace returned in the Abyei Administrative Area and Twic counties, which means there would also be peace in Mayom County.

The governor said he and Abyei’s counterpart are committed to facilitating the safe return of stranded internally displaced persons in the UNISFA camp.

Meanwhile, Luka Chierey, Mayom County commissioner also emphasized the need to bring families stranded in Abyei back home.
