Africa-Press – South-Sudan. The newly-appointed Commissioner of Nzara County in Western Equatoria State, Lino Kuku, formally took over the office with his priorities trained on security and agriculture to change the face of the county.

Addressing the residents on Monday, Kuku said he would protect the people and their properties and fight tribalism and corruption.

“I have come for peace and security… I will make sure that my people live in peace and conduct their activities freely,” he said.

He added, “We know the current economic situation of our country but we are going to embark on agriculture this year to improve food security, good quality of education and health in the county and across the state.”

He furthermore added that his leadership would work hand in hand with all the political parties to the peace agreement as well as giving equal opportunity without any segregation.

The State Minister of Local Government and Law Enforcement, James Severino, called on the new county commissioner to operate within the local government law and make sure that he serves the interest of the people not his own.

However, the State Governor Alfred Futuyo, advised the new county to push his community to focus on agriculture, Futuyo told the Commissioner to make sure there are improvements in the Education and Health sectors in the area.

Kuku, who was appointed via the ticket of SPLM-IO, replaced Richard Zizi in a recent restructuring in the government of Western Equatoria State.
