Africa-Press – South-Sudan. Vice President James Wani Igga urged the Maridi youth in Juba to preach peace and unity among the citizens of Western Equatoria State.
Igga remarked while meeting the leadership of the Maridi Youth Association in his office yesterday.
According to the statement obtained from the office of the Vice President, the meeting mainly focused on areas of peace and youth empowerment.
The VP said the youth are the backbone of every country, adding, “There is a need for you in Maridi in particular and in South Sudan at large to continue to spread messages and unity among the people.”
“Vice President, advise the youth to encourage them to promote unity,” he noted.
He urged the youth to organise the Commemoration Day of the late Veteran Gen. Ali Gbatala to keep the history of our freedom fighters and reflect on the unity of purpose as it was in the first.
Igga appealed to the youth to embark on self-reliance projects that would help the larger youth in the area.
“HE Vice President urged the youth of Maridi to embark on self-help and self-reliance projects,” the statement partly read.
The youth leader, Mr. Alex Frazer, said they would mobilise youth ahead of the mega launch of the SPLM Political School expected next month in Maridi County.
