Africa-Press – South-Sudan. The Minister of National Security has advised the new Director General of the Internal Security Bureau to build on his predecessor’s work and to remain steadfast, refusing to let anyone undermine his position.
The Minister of National Security has urged the new Director General of the Internal Security Bureau, General Akech Tong Aleu, to continue from where his predecessor left off.
Obuto Mamur Mete emphasized the need for continuity in policies and operations within the national security apparatus.
This guidance highlights the importance of maintaining stability and addressing ongoing security challenges, ensuring that progress made by the previous leadership is not lost.
The ministry seeks to sustain momentum in crucial areas such as counter-terrorism and intelligence gathering.
“I advised my bodyguard, Akech Tong, to stay focused and not look back as he moves forward. I told him, ‘Never let anyone corner you.’ When we first started this National Security journey, we weren’t where we are today; we’ve gained international recognition,” Gen. Obuto reflected.
“You should also collaborate with my colleague, Yien Makuach, and remember where we came from, where we are now, and where we need to go,” he added.
“I’m pleased to hear your emphasis on staying out of politics. We must build friendships with everyone.”
Akec Tong was appointed as the new Director General of the Internal Security Bureau through a presidential decree announced on state-run SSBC on October 2, 2024, succeeding former director general Akol Koor.
