Africa-Press – South-Sudan. South Sudan’s Vice President for Service Cluster, Josephine Lagu Yanga, has appealed to parents and guardians across the country to create a calm and supportive home environment as more than 44,000 Senior Four candidates began their Certificate of Secondary Education (CSE) examinations on Monday.
The national exams, which mark a critical milestone for students aspiring to join higher education, will run for nine days.
Speaking during the official bell-ringing ceremony in Juba, VP Lagu urged families to avoid placing unnecessary pressure on their children and instead offer encouragement throughout the examination period.
“Your support has brought the candidates this far. I urge you to continue encouraging them, providing a peaceful environment at home, and guiding them with patience and understanding during this examination week,” she said.
Lagu also cautioned candidates, parents, and teachers against any form of examination malpractice, stressing the importance of preserving the integrity of the national education system.
“Let us protect the credibility of our education system. Success achieved through honest effort builds a stronger future not only for our children but for the entire Republic of South Sudan,” she added.
The vice president further acknowledged President Salva Kiir for what she described as his continued support to the education sector through policy and resource allocation.
Central Equatoria State Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony also addressed candidates, commending them for their perseverance and encouraging them to approach the exams with confidence.
“This moment is a testament to your hard work and dedication. Remember, success is not just about passing examinations, but about growing, learning, and becoming the best version of yourself,” he said.
Anthony encouraged students to stay focused, believe in themselves, and give their best effort, noting that their future depends on the commitment they show starting from this examination period.
