Africa-Press – South-Sudan. Police in Jonglei State have launched investigations into a recent incident in Bor town in which three civilians and one security officer were killed.

Speaking to Eye Radio this afternoon, Jonglei State Police Commissioner Maj. General John Baak said the case has been opened at the police station and investigations are ongoing.

According to General Baak, no arrests have been made so far, but security forces are still pursuing the suspects involved in the incident.

“The case has been opened at the police station, and investigations are ongoing. So far, no arrests have been made, and we are still pursuing the suspects. During an exchange of fire between the police and the criminals, four people were killed, three civilians and one police officer,” he explained.

“The civilians were not intentionally shot by the police; they were caught in the fire exchange during the operation. No suspect managed to escape. Investigations are continuing,” he added.

The clashes erupted last week in Langbar, on the outskirts of Bor town, where an exchange of gunfire between the police and armed civilians resulted in the deaths of four people, including one police officer and three civilians.

Maj. General Baak clarified that the civilians were not intentionally shot by the police but were trapped in the gunfire during the operation.
