The South Sudan National Bureau of Standards has received modern laboratory equipment to support effective quality and safety testing, donated by the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

According to a statement published by the Bureau, the 17 equipment items were delivered yesterday.

While handing over the equipment, FAO Country Representative Meshack Malo said the donation is intended to strengthen laboratory capacity and improve analytical testing standards.

He also reiterated the organisation’s commitment to continue supporting the Bureau.

For her part, Gloria Nyoka Joseph, the Managing Director of the Bureau, commended FAO for its sustained support to the government and the Bureau.

Nyoka said the donated equipment will be installed in both the Chemical and Microbiological Laboratories.

She noted that the support will improve the Bureau’s ability to protect public health, enhance the quality and safety of testing services, and promote value for money in trade by boosting confidence in laboratory results among traders and other stakeholders.
