The government of Eastern Equatoria State has announced it will hold a planning meeting in the state capital, Torit, to develop a work plan for the year 2026 following recent waves of insecurity.

The meeting, according to the state Minister of Information and Communication, Elia John Alhaj, will bring together state ministers, commissioners, town mayors and other representatives.

“The meeting is all about, we are going, we are calling a forum for state leadership to approve the state priorities for the year, so bearing in mind the current situation we are in, we have to set some key priorities to guide our operations throughout the year,” he said.

They will work on priorities aimed at addressing insecurity caused by armed groups and other challenges facing the state.

Minister Alhaj said the forum will approve key priorities to guide the operations of the state government throughout the year.

“In Torit tomorrow, in Torit. With all the commissioners, the town mayors, yes, and all the state ministers and all the officials, state officials, including commissioners. Yes. It is going to happen tomorrow,” he added.
