The Infrastructure Cluster chaired by Vice President Taban Deng Gai has announced plans to construct three new roads to strengthen the national transport network, with financing expected to come from gold resources and other funding sources.
The announcement follows the cluster’s first meeting of 2026.
The meeting reviewed key developments and future plans related to national roads and infrastructure projects across the country.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Energy and Dams, the meeting focused on updates on major highways, proposals for new road constructions, and organizational restructuring within the ministry.
Among the key resolutions, the cluster agreed on plans to build three strategically located roads linking areas with mineral concessions. The move aims to boost regional development and support resource exploitation.
The meeting also reviewed progress on the Paloach road, which will connect Ethiopia to oil exploration areas.
According to the statement, the project is currently at the authentication stage, while feasibility and design studies for other planned roads are ongoing.
