Africa-Press – South-Sudan. South Sudan is stepping up efforts to protect its digital financial system as the National Communication Authority (NCA) hosts international experts to train local staff in mobile payment security.
Eng. Papiti Okwaci International Telecommunication Union to the Authority’s headquarters in Juba for Phase 3 of the Digital Financial Services (DFS) Knowledge Transfer Programme.
The ITU team is in South Sudan to conduct Phase 3 of the Digital Financial Services (DFS) Knowledge Transfer Programme.
This phase is a key step toward creating and operationalizing a specialized DFS Security Lab at the NCA.
Over the nine-day training, the NCA DFS Security Lab team will receive hands-on guidance to carry out rigorous security testing of mobile payment applications.
The initiative, conducted in partnership with the Bank of South Sudan, aims to align local regulations with international best practices and strengthen the integrity of financial transactions.
“By developing our local technical capabilities, we are building a digital economy that is transparent, secure, and under strong institutional control,” Eng. Okwaci told reporters.
“This partnership with the ITU is a major milestone in strengthening trust in our digital systems.”
The NCA said that securing digital financial services is essential for creating a safe and reliable environment to support South Sudan’s digital transformation and long-term economic growth.
This initiative is part of the country’s ongoing efforts to bridge the digital divide and boost confidence in its digital financial infrastructure.
