Africa-Press – South-Sudan. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), has launched a 40-day diplomatic training programme aimed at strengthening the professional capacity of South Sudan’s next generation of diplomats.

Coordinated through the Diplomatic Institute under the leadership of Director General Ajing Adiang Ariik, the programme is designed to enhance diplomatic and consular skills while promoting professionalism and effective public service.

Speaking at the launch, Ambassador Ajing emphasized the programme’s importance:

“This training will equip participants with the knowledge needed to enhance diplomatic and consular skills while promoting institutional professionalism and effective public service.”

UNDP Deputy Resident Representative Sheila Nagatia praised the participants’ commitment and highlighted the value of investing in future diplomats.

“This training is intended to equip diplomats with the knowledge and practical skills required to effectively represent the country, promote sustainable development, and strengthen institutional standards,” she said.

The Ministry’s Undersecretary, Ambassador Agnes Adlino Orifa Oswaha, underscored the initiative’s role in advancing governance and professional learning within the diplomatic service.

Deputy Minister Ambassador Akuei Bona Malwal commended UNDP’s continued support, urging participants to apply the skills gained in their daily duties.

Meanwhile, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Monday Semaya K. Kumba called for discipline and dedication among participants.

“I urge you to approach this programme with commitment, discipline, and professionalism, and to respect the responsibilities entrusted to you as representatives of the Republic of South Sudan,” he said.

The 40-day programme is expected to strengthen South Sudan’s diplomatic service and contribute to sustainable development through improved international engagement.
