Africa-Press – South-Sudan. Bor Champions Super Star FC defeated tenacious sub-local Kapoeta FA side Jebel Koteen FC to win the zone two 2021/2022 South Sudan Cup at Buluk Training Centre.
Bor giants scored three goals against Jebel Koteen in the first half, effectively ending the game early.
Ariku Rema Peter opened the scoring in the 19th minute after launching a brilliant counter-attack.
After conceding one of the fastest goals, Jebel Koteen came back strong with the aim of equalising, but Super Star added another goal in the 35th minute.
Magai Anyang scored a third in the 45th minute thanks to an assist from Peter.
The mountain boys started the second half, pressing the opponents hard throughout the game as they tried to fight back, but the Super Star defended well and remained solid. James Taban, Jebel Koteen’s top scorer, James Taban, pulled back one goal through a spot-kick after their playmaker was brought down inside the 16-yard box in the 65th minute.
Although Jebel Koteen were beaten, the two teams will still be waiting for the other teams from zones one and three who will be fighting for the final competition of South Sudan Cup 2021/2022.
Elsewhere in zone one, Zalan FC of Rumbek beat Al-Hilal FC of Wau to win zone one. An intriguing
Hilal led the game until the 73rd minute when Zalan rallied to tie the game with a goal from forwarding Madol.
The game changed in the 83rd minute when Anyak completed the unexpected comeback from the Rumbek side to make it 2-2 in normal time, forcing the tie to be decided on penalty kicks, which Zalan eventually won 5-4.
