Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>South Sudan\u2019s minister of information Michael Makuei Lueth has warned the public against using social media irresponsibly saying the government will hunt those abusing senior citizens on social media, but ruled out shutting down social media giants.<\/p>\n

Speaking during the funeral rite of Hon. Alier Ayom at Medan Simba in Juba over the weekend, Makuei who is also the government spokesman, urged the young people to stop abusing elders on social media sites saying some section of users are using it to insult senior citizens.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is you young people who use social media not us the elderly, I am talking about misuse of social media. You have to avoid using it anyhow. Posting content irresponsibly is not good and you need to take note of that,\u201d Makuei told the gathering.<\/p>\n

\u201cSome of you have been disrespectful; you\u2019ve been using social media to abuse the elderly from all tribes and clans in the country.<\/p>\n

You young people, what type of education is this you got?\u201d Makuei asked. He went on to say that \u201cAll this arrogance must stop so that you will also be respected.<\/p>\n

If you abuse elders, expect the same treatment in future. Social media came to ease business not for this kind of nonsense. \u201d \u201cPlease refrain from using social media irresponsibly and this is my last appeal to you, for instance Deng Dau said that the government isn\u2019t happy.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe cannot shutdown social media but those using it irresponsibly, we will track them down, we can\u2019t stop social media because it is important in our life but those abusing it, we will track them down.\u201d<\/p>\n
