Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>At least two people have been killed by cattle keepers in Ayii Boma, Magwi County of Eastern Equatoria State. The incident happened as the deceased were returning from fishing and the armed cattle keepers opened fire on them. They killed one person on spot and another was cut on the mouth with a knife who later succumbed to his wounds.<\/p>\n

Reports from the county authorities indicate that an estimated 10,547 people have been displaced from Agoro Payam to Magwi town due to the recent conflict in the area. The authorities have provided about 200 bags of rice to help the IDPs in Magwi Payam who are in dire need of humanitarian aid.<\/p>\n

Speaking to The City Review correspondent in Torit yesterday, Magwi County Executive Director Ocheng David Tokwaro said after the incident the attackers also abducted a 28-year-old woman Lalam Santa alongside her 10-year-old boy.<\/p>\n

He said the abducted woman left behind her 2-month-old baby at the place of the incident. \u201cIt is true, in a place called Ayii a woman who gave birth to a baby two months ago was abducted that woman up to now nobody knows whereabouts of her. They left behind a baby of two months,\u201d Ocheng said.<\/p>\n

He confirmed that the cattle keepers have been stopping passengers\u2019 vehicles along Juba-Nimule Road in search of citizens who come from Eastern Equatoria State, particularly Magwi County. Ocheng said yesterday the cattle keepers removed Acholi and Mad\u2019i passengers who were on a vehicle that was travelling from Nimule to Juba.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere was a vehicle coming from Nimule and some people were made to drop down about ten people, their fate is still unclear. They are targeting people of any community from Eastern Equatoria State. They abducted them but we are not certain whether they are alive or not alive,\u201d said Ocheng.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Magwi County Deputy Police Inspector 1st Lt. Bongomin Godfrey Dorteo advised the citizens of the affected areas to always seek refuge at the military barracks.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat I should tell about what is happening now is that when there is a serious problem of that kind, where there is no security, they should go to the safer place where there is security like the army barracks in Nyolo and Ayii,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
