Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>The Stam Power organization has donated laboratory equipment to the University of Bahr el-Ghazal for five labs to improve students\u2019 capacity in learning.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the handover ceremony, the Executive Director of Stam Power Organization, Mou Deng Ring said the donation was to prove the organization\u2019s commitment to boosting education in the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat we are here today is to hand over lab equipment because we believe that science education should be back to its place in order for students in the country to be able to increase their knowledge in the various labs,\u201d Ring said.<\/p>\n

He said the equipment is for five laboratories within the University of Bahr el-Ghazal campus. \u201cToday we are handing over equipment of five labs; which include computer labs, electronic biology, chemistry, and physics,\u201d Mou said.<\/p>\n

Prof. Victor Loku, Vice Chancellor of the University of Bahr el Ghazal, expressed gratitude to the organization and the Ministry of Education for the donation.<\/p>\n

He said it was a step towards raising the country\u2019s science education standards. Prof. Loku said the university now has good laboratory facilities to help students conduct their research within the campus.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are grateful that the equipment we received today will help students, particularly scientific students, improve their understanding. We appreciate the university\u2019s selection by the organization and the Ministry of Education,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThose who sympathize with this university are much appreciated. This is the first grant this university has received in nearly two decades. There are wonderful facilities, and we\u2019re hoping to work together and usher in a new age,\u201d Prof. Loku added.<\/p>\n

When asked whether the equipment is enough, Loku said although it was not significant, the beginning of anything is always starts small. \u201cFor us, the beginning, if it is small, is the one that enhances the biggest amount. With that, it is a tremendous thing that will produce more, and we hope that it will enable us to entice other donors to add more,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe received 30 computers, plus additional equipment for the five labs, which are rather more.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe beginning, even if it is modest, is the one that increases the larger quantity for us,\u201d he stressed.<\/p>\n

Dr. Peter Atem Deng, the University of Bahr el Ghazal\u2019s Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs said the donation came at right time when the university needed such equipment for the various labs.<\/p>\n

He said they were delighted to receive the equipment for five laboratories at the University of Bahr el Ghazal, where students would be happy to use it.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe appreciate you for choosing our institution as one of the recipients of this equipment, both as a firm and as the Minister of General Education,\u201d Dr. Deng stressed.<\/p>\n
