The authorities in Abyei Administrative Area and Warrap state called on Humanitarian Organizations and the government to provide necessary assistance to internally Displaced Persons(IDPs) in both areas.<\/p>\n

On Saturday, Police reported that the disputed region of Abyei came under two separate attacks from Misseriya Arab Nomads and armed groups from neighboring Warrap state.<\/p>\n

On Sunday, authorities in Abyei Administrative Area also confirmed another attack from Misseriya Nomads that leftover 27 people dead, many injured while more than one thousand civilians from Abyei remained displaced.<\/p>\n

This coupled with several households displaced last month by the clashes that erupted due to land disputes between Twic of Warrap and Ngok of Abyei Administrative Area.<\/p>\n

In an exclusive interview with Juba Monitor yesterday, Ajak Deng Miyan, Administrative Area\u2019s Spokesperson called on government and humanitarian organizations in the country to quickly respond to the dire humanitarian need.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe called on the International Organizations and our government to intervene and provide on necessary humanitarian assistance to displaced people in the area\u201d Ajak Said.<\/p>\n

He added that many people remained stranded in Abyei town seeking for help.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe humanitarian situation is bad as those who were displaced from Agok are just loitering and those displaced by the Misseriya attack are just moving in town without help\u201d he expressed.<\/p>\n

\u201cAccording to the report that we had from the NGOs which did an assessment, more than 1000 people are displaced and are in dire need of humanitarians\u201d he revealed.<\/p>\n

He added that up to now due to fear, many people are still outside the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA) compound.<\/p>\n

Ajak said that many people are just at the gate and those with relatives within Abyei town have joined them more especially after the deadly attack.<\/p>\n

He reaffirmed thatUNISFA is still dealing with the protection of civilians outside their main compound although they experienced a delay in response.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe situation is yet not normal because people are on run and I can see now people are still up and down,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He urged on the recently formed committee to handle Aneet\u2019s dispute to speed up their work.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are calling on the government and the committee that is coming to settle the fighting in the Western Part of Abyei to speed up their work,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He called on the government to come up with a final solution with Sudan to reduce conflict in the country.<\/p>\n

Misseriya keep on attacking our people, especially in Dry season, yesterday they came with very heavy guns so people are in a panic to reduce all these there is a need for South Sudan and Sudan to have final solution for the problem.<\/p>\n

On a separate note, Members of Parliament(MPs) representing Twic Country called on humanitarian assistance to those displaced by the conflict in the area.<\/p>\n

This remark was made on Monday during a statement read to the press by Majok Yak Majok representing all the MPs who visited the affected area of Twic county Warrap State.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe call for quick humanitarian\u2019 interventions to rescue the vulnerable people and provisions of relief items,\u201d Majok Yak Majok said.<\/p>\n

Last month, 16 people were killed and 50 people displaced when armed groups from Twic community of warrap state clashed with their neighbors in Abyei. the fighting led to the destruction of the disputed trade hub, Aneet Market whose ownership is claimed by both communities of Twic and Nyok.<\/p>\n
