Central Equatoria State trading Unit yesterday said that the continuous conflicts caused by cattle herders have affected the trading sector making a decrease in agricultural farming and a low supply of essential commodities to the markets.<\/p>\n

For the past weeks, the devastating conflict between cattle herders and the host community Magwi of Eastern Equatoria State took the lives of many innocent souls as well as deteriorated food production meant for commercial supply and subsistence use.<\/p>\n

Speaking to journalists yesterday, Robert Pitia said that the influx of cattle herders to most fertile areas in some states created threats and fear amidst farmers and domiciles making agricultural services drop by 25% from their production impacting trade negatively.<\/p>\n

Pitia urged the cattle keepers to kindly evacuate the fertile agricultural areas and give space to farmers to practice farming in order to boost trade in the Country and enable the average living citizens to earn living.<\/p>\n

He, however, added that the Country has reached the farming season where farmers would have been committed to preparing their land for farming but due to fear and threats, most citizens were displaced.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, he called on the National and State government to aid the conflicting parties to dialogue and reaching to consensus.<\/p>\n
