The Education Department at Bor County in Jonglei State has warned private schools in the capital not to comply with the academic calendar for 2022-2023.<\/p>\n

Gabriel Panchol Anyang, the Education Director at Bor County said that schools that refused to comply with 4th April,2022 resumption date are identified and recorded pending tough administrative measures should they resist accordingly.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are seriously notifying schools that have not adhered to the calendar to immediately close and send home all pupils until the reopening which is 4th April this year so equal learning in both public and private schools in Bor County is achieved.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would like to end the letter by reminding owners and headteachers of privates schools to immediately call-off the school entry registration process and stop pre-coaching of semi candidates until schools are officially reopening the cited date\u201d<\/p>\n

Gabriel urged the private schools to comply with the academic calendar of 2022-2023 and failure to comply will lead to drastic measures that include, definite closure and ban of individual school from government support.<\/p>\n

meanwhile, the Chairperson of private school Daniel Majok Ghai said that he personally agreed to the decision made by the government about the opening of the school but the only disagreement that we had with the government was about the closing date because the private school\u2019s teachers are paid base on the school fee paid by the pupils and if the government is saying that the schools will be reopened in April then we all have agreed with it.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat State government want is the uniform reopen of the school and closure of the schools and he added that the government shouldn\u2019t change the timeline of the school because the schools operate on the climates change which the climate of Jonglei is always good during January compared to April which supposed to the closing period but now the open is April where the weather is terrible for the pupils to attend class\u201d. Majok said<\/p>\n

He urged the government to allow the private schools carry on with registration and also with the coaching of the upcoming candidate because the registration is the opening of the school.<\/p>\n

On 10th February last month, The Director-General in the State Ministry of General Education & Instruction wrote a circular on effort of the harmonized academic calendar for 2022-2023 and it was circulated to all schools to ensure that uniformity and equality in education standards or learning systems is retained but some private schools refused to comply and had opted to open their institutions earlier March 2022 with aims to register more pupils not for academic benefits.<\/p>\n
