Members of the Eastern Equatoria state parliamentary caucus comprising of the National legislature and the council states issued a communiqu\u00e9 condemning the violence that has been ravaging and threatening peaceful coexistence since January 2022 The members described the action of the cattle herders as barbaric and lawless.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor the last four years, cattle herder and their animals from Jonglei state have been moving in large numbers using trucks, badges and on foot into Eastern Equatoria state despite the continuous appeal to the high authorities in the country,\u201d it said<\/p>\n

MP Julius Moilinga, the chair of Eastern Equatoria state parliamentary caucus said violence undermines the basic rights of humanity as enshrined in our constitution and in other international protocols, as the people\u2019s representative of Eastern Equatoria states,<\/p>\n

\u201cWe strongly condemned in the very strongest terms possible this act of aggression on innocence population who are now forced to live without shelter and basic needs.<\/p>\n

We are very shocked by the loss of lives and the immense displacement of our people, the situation is terrifying as approximately 10,200 including children and women are displaced and are yearning for humanitarian assistants,\u201d<\/p>\n

In his part the representative of Magwi County, Okello Lotwari said that the cattle herders are within Torit and Magwi County inevitably with plans to cause more harm to civilians.<\/p>\n

The communique highlighted several atrocities committed on armless people both in Torit and Magwi County. MPs asked the state government whose primary responsibility is to protect and ensure the well being of the population to undertake the following: The governor and the government of Eastern Equatoria to track down the perpetrators of this heinous crime against humanity and bring them to book.<\/p>\n

The RTGoNU to support the government of the states in the implementation of the presidential order No. 17\/2015 dated 8th April 2015 and 25\/2017 dated 28th Oct 2017 for the immediate removal and relocation of the cattle herders and their animals to their places of origin Humanitarian agencies and the national government to urgently provide humanitarian assistance to the affected population.<\/p>\n

Herders to immediately leave all territories of eastern Equatoria state and Governor of Jonglei state and senior politician who hailed from Jonglei states to take responsibility of ensuring that the communities of Jonglei do not infringe on the rights of the citizen of South Sudan and urged for immediate relocation of the cattle to their state origin.<\/p>\n
