Ministry of Health yesterday graduated 21 students from the first cohort of front line field Epidemiology Training program (FETP) awarding them with certificates of completion.<\/p>\n

The graduation occurred during the event for the presentation of the Field Epidemiology status in South Sudan.<\/p>\n

The graduation was attended by number of participants from various institutions and organizations such as the World health organization (WHO), undersecretaries from various ministries, Ambassadors and many others.<\/p>\n

Speaking during the graduation Ceremony, Victoria Anib, the undersecretary of the national Ministry of health said that it was the first time and a milestone for the Ministry to graduate students on such a program since it started.<\/p>\n

She said that the field of Epidemiological training was one of the ways to build capacity of health care workers in surveillance, error detections and rapid response to medical hazards rescuing the citizens from facing public threats outbreaks at all levels of the health systems.<\/p>\n

\u2018\u2019 It is the first time and a mile stone theMinistry graduating students in the field of epidemiology since the program emerged. I appreciate the government of the United States of America for having stood firmly towards supporting South Sudan in several programs and projects\u2019\u2019 She said<\/p>\n

She said that the field Epidemiological training was one of the ways to build capacity of health care workers in surveillance, error detections and rapid response to medical hazards rescuing the citizens from facing public threats outbreaks at all levels of the health systems.<\/p>\n

Furthermore she said that through such training, would improve field epidemiological capacity both nationally and at sub-national level to attain international health regulation on the protection, detection and responses to public health threats.<\/p>\n

She reiterated that Covid -19 imparted knowledge to the ministry of health to establish a strong laboratory system, data management system to enter data timely.<\/p>\n

She advised the graduates to fully use the knowledge they attained to deliver health services to the citizens of the Country.<\/p>\n

However, she told the graduates that the training would provide them with skills and expertise to manage outbreaks capably since they have jeopardising the health status of the Country.<\/p>\n

\u2018\u2019 Such training would improve field epidemiological capacity both nationally and at sub-national level to attain international health regulation on the protection, detection and responses to public health threats. Covid-19 imparted knowledge to the ministry of health to establish a strong laboratory system, data management system for timely data entry\u2019\u2019 Victoria said.<\/p>\n

She advised the graduates to fully use the knowledge they attained to deliver health services to the citizens of the Country.<\/p>\n

In his part, David Reigns, the United States Ambassador to South Sudan said that the Government of the United States would continue helping South Sudan towards health grants to ensure mitigation of outbreaks in the Country.<\/p>\n
