Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>South Sudan is now connected to the world through an international mobile money remittance platform\u2014the first of its kind\u2014courtesy of M-Gurush. The new system launched on Thursday will now enable subscribers in the capital, Juba, to enjoy the services of 12 countries, including the seven Eastern African countries: Ghana, Ethiopia, Malawi, as well as India and China, among others.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe expansion of mobile money services will go a long way towards ensuring the efficiency of the payment system and enhancing the financial inclusion that the households and firms that are using this system to contribute to the development and growth of this country,\u201d said Mou Ambrose, M-Gurush Operation Officer.<\/p>\n

To ensure the product and clients\u2019 security, M-Gurush will operate in collaboration with the National Communication Authority and the Central Bank of South Sudan to prevent digital scammers and access liquidity, respectively.<\/p>\n

Going global<\/b><\/p>\n

According to Mr. Arinaitwe, the international digital money transactions aim not only at creating job opportunities for youth across the country, but will also bring about economic inclusivity and effective real-time local, regional, and international business operations.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is an important milestone, connecting South Sudan to the rest of the world.\u201d We are doing this with convenience, bringing down cost and security, \u201csaid M-Gurush Vice President, Joseph Arinaitwe.<\/p>\n

However, according to M-Gurush, the digital divide, financial illiteracy, limited network coverage, and power pose greater challenges that could turn into opportunities for interested investors to explore.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is something of interest to us the regulator, for you, the provider, to assure the public that their money and resources are saved event when the power is not there, \u201csaid Adok Napoleon, Director General of National Communication Authority.<\/p>\n

M-Gurush was launched, connecting South Sudan\u2019s mobile money services with Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania. With the expansion on Thursday, it crosses the international boundary to include China and India.<\/p>\n

Previously used in the English version, the Arabic language has been incorporated to bridge the language barrier gap, making M-Gurush an international mobile digital money service in Africa.<\/p>\n
