Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>The High Court in Bor town, Jonglei state has resumed hearing cases after two months of closure.<\/p>\n

The state High Court President, Justice John Yel Aleu, told Radio Tamazuj that hearings and trials resumed on Thursday last week.<\/p>\n

\u201cI left Bor for a mission in January. So since then, the court remained closed,\u201d Yel said. \u201cOn Thursday, March 31, we resumed hearing cases and trials start from Monday.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said his absentia has led to a backlog of cases but called on the Bor residents to remain patient assuring them that justice will be served.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe start receiving new cases and already there are a lot of cases. My message to the people is that however long it takes justice will prevail,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

One Bor resident, Yar Manyang, greeted the resumption with joy saying they will have pending cases settled.<\/p>\n

For his part, Bol Deng, the head of the Jonglei Civil Society Network (JCSN), said, \u201cThe resumption of the High Court is exciting. It will help reduce this influx in cases. Again, it is the High Court which defines the jurisdiction of the courts below it and also gives guidance and monitoring.\u201d<\/p>\n
