Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>Authorities in Torit County of South Sudan’s Eastern Equatoria State Wednesday handed over about 100 goats that were stolen to their rightful owners in Hiyalla Payam.<\/p>\n

Jacob Attari Albano, Torit County Commissioner says the 100 goats were stolen by youth suspected to be from Haforiere during a raid at the beginning of last month.<\/p>\n

“We have recovered 100 stolen goats from Haforiere and we are taking them back to Hiyalla. They were stolen from Hiyalla. You remember last time we recovered some thirty herds of cattle from Hiyalla and we gave them back to Haforiere and now is the turn of Haforiere to return the stolen goats to Hiyalla,” he explained.<\/p>\n

Commissioner Attari urged the two communities to cease cattle theft and embrace peaceful coexistence warning that cattle raiders will face justice.<\/p>\n

For his part, Galileo Ohide, the Paramount Chief of Hiyalla payam confirmed the receipt of the goats and said it is a sign of peace.<\/p>\n

Ohide also reiterated calls for peaceful coexistence and said cattle raiders should be handed over to the government for prosecution.<\/p>\n
