Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>The South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA), a coalition of opposition movements signatory to the 2018 peace agreement has said it shared leadership positions in the national unified forces and submitted the list for appointments.<\/p>\n

Last week, the peace parties signed a deal mediated by the Sudanese government that ended a deadlock over the command structure of the unified forces.<\/p>\n

According to the agreement, the power-sharing in the unified army gives the incumbent government under SPLM 60% and the other two armed groups 40%.<\/p>\n

General Khalid Butrous, the deputy minister of public service and head of the National Salvation Front faction that signed the agreement told Radio Tamazuj today that the coalition of eight parties has agreed on the seven positions allotted to them.<\/p>\n

Butrous said the coalition has nominated military leaders for the positions of director of the riverine unit, director of border police, director of training in the National Security Sevices, deputy director of external security, as well as officials in the prison and reform, wildlife, and civil defense units.<\/p>\n

“We relied on the military hierarchy and the desire of each individual in the security units, and we had a prior arrangement according to the experiences,” he added.<\/p>\n

Butrous said, “We have submitted the list to Vice President Hussein Abdelbagi, who represents the coalition’s leader. We expect the list to be handed over to President Kiir on Monday.”<\/p>\n

President Salva Kiir is expected to announce the command of the unified forces soon, a move that will pave way for the pass out of 50,000 forces in all the training centers including the army, police, national security, prison, wildlife, and civil defense.<\/p>\n
