Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>South Sudan\u2019s Vice-President for Service Cluster, Hussein Abdelbagi Akol, has warned senior four students sitting exams across the country against engaging in malpractices.<\/p>\n

This morning, South Sudan kicked off high school exams with over 32,000 students sitting nationwide.<\/p>\n

There have been reports of examination fraud and malpractices in South Sudan\u2019s education system.<\/p>\n

The examination malpractices have gone up on an unprecedented scale since the country gained independence from Sudan in 2011.<\/p>\n

Abdelbagi warned students against indulging in malpractices during Certificate of Secondary Education examinations.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would like to appeal to you the candidates of South Sudan Certificate of Secondary Education throughout the country to help us fight examinations malpractices, we don\u2019t need to cheat when taking exams,\u201d Abdelbagi said during the launch of exams at Technical Secondary School in Juba on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Abdelbagi added that \u201cI want to appeal to candidates to make government and education partners\u2019 efforts count by performing best in their examinations.\u201d<\/p>\n

Simon Nyok Deng, Secretary-General of the National Examinations Council disclosed that heavy security has been deployed across the country to ensure that examinations malpractices and leakages are prevented.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have set up ways and means to ensure secure conduct of these examinations and that is why I said before that we have deployed to every storage stations officers of national security and security have been beefed up across the country,\u201d Deng said.<\/p>\n

Deng said that the examination Council will take disciplinary and legal action against such individuals involved in exam malpractices such as leaking papers.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have deployed a huge number of national security officers across the nation to ensure that maximize the security of exams and the candidates themselves,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

On 4th March, National Security Service (NSS) arrested and detained at least seven teachers for allegedly leaking out Primary Leaving Examination papers to the social media in February of last year.<\/p>\n

The five of the suspects were arrested from Kapoeta Town in Eastern Equatoria State, Yirol West County of Lake State, and Malakal town of Upper Nile State.<\/p>\n
