Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>The governor of Western Equatoria State has urged the Muslim traders to desist from involvement in local politics. Gen. Alfred Futuyo Karaba made the remarks on Monday as the Muslim community celebrated the Eid al Fitr in Yambio Town.<\/p>\n

His statement follows reports that some Muslim traders were involved in amplifying the recent tensions in the Tambura area. He, however, said that his government is committed to working together with the Muslim community in developing the state.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou came as a businessman and you have no connection with politics. You are not part of the politics of this state,\u201d Gen. Futuyo charged. \u201cWhy do you accept someone to deceive you to close your shop and say this government is not good?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThat means it is politics not business and that is why traders are arrested for not adhering to state order,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

For his part, the secretary-general of the Muslim community in Yambio, Maj. Gen. Hussein Girisi urged the Muslims to forgive, live together and promote peaceful coexistence. He pledged the commitment of the Muslim community to support the state government and observe the laws and regulations of the state.<\/p>\n
