Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>President Salva Kiir has called for nationwide forgiveness in his address marking the Eid-al Fitr. President Kiir said yesterday that it was time for the Muslim faithful and other religions to use the celebrations to recommit themselves to prayers for peace in the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs our Muslim brothers and sisters across South Sudan join Muslims around the world in celebrating the end of the holy month of Ramadan, my family and I send our warmest greetings,\u2019\u2019 he stated.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn days like this, we are encouraged to renew our commitment to prayer. It\u2019s also the day when we come together as a country to pray for peace and forgiveness.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a country, we can only progress if we accept peaceful coexistence and forgiveness,\u201d Kiir added in his letter to Muslims in the country.<\/p>\n

He lauded the \u2018\u2018Muslims for their desire to preserve God\u2019s teachings and to help the destitute in their midst after a month-long show of devotion marked by fasting, generosity, and self-accountability to God.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cAs you open your families\u2019 doors to your friends and neighbours during these Eid al Fitr festivities, let the joy and happiness radiating from this celebration amplify the message of peace and forgiveness within our communities,\u201d Kiir said.<\/p>\n
