Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>South Sudan\u2019s President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Monday led the nation in paying glowing tributes to former freedom fighter, Aguil Chut Deng, whose missing body was found on Saturday in Brisbane, Australia.<\/p>\n

A 58-year-mother, Aguil left home in Brisbane for her daily routine exercise on 26th April 2022, and never returned home.<\/p>\n

After series of search by police and community members, her death body was discovered on 30th April 2022.<\/p>\n

The cause of her death remains unknown.<\/p>\n

Aguil was a former member of female battalion of the SPLA locally knows as Katiba Banat in 1986.<\/p>\n

Kiir eulogized Aguil as a patriotic citizen who worked tirelessly for the cause of freedom of South Sudan.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn behalf of the government and people of South Sudan, I am conveying my heartfelt condolence to Comrade Aguil\u2019s family, especially her husband, Gen. Biar Mading, her community, her comrades in Katiba Banat and those who have worked with her in various capacities during her life time,\u201d Kiir said in a condolence message released on Monday.<\/p>\n

Kiir described Aguil a woman of immense courage in her generation.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe was a woman of immense courage in her generation. This courage prompted her to leave the comfort of her family and promise of education in 1984 to join the Sudan People\u2019s Liberation Amy (SPLA),\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He said Aguil worked relentless in support of liberation objectives until the signing of 2005 peace deal.<\/p>\n

\u201cComrade Aguil turned to party work and become an active promoter of the SPLM, advocating for full implementation of the CPA and for conduct of credible referendum in Southern Sudan,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis work earned her recognition in the party and led to her nomination as National Liberation Council member representing Diaspora constituency of Australia and Oceania,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

He said her work ethics and love for South Sudan has been admired by the citizens of all work of life in the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs we mourn our sister and comrade, let us all pray for her family, especially her children and all those who are grieving presently for God to grant then solace to withstand this immense loss.\u201d<\/p>\n
