Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>Police authorities in Western Equatoria State have received seven new Toyota Land Cruiser vehicles to ease mobility and improve the security situation in the state.<\/p>\n

The cars were given by the national government to help improve the state security situation.<\/p>\n

Speaking during the official commission of the vehicles on Thursday, State Governor Alfred Futuyo Karaba appreciated the efforts by the national government in providing vehicles to strengthen the law enforcement agency in the state.<\/p>\n

Futuyo, however, cautioned the police against involvement in politics.<\/p>\n

\u201cPolice are mandated to save the life of the citizens; you dress in the military uniform to stay away from politics,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you are in military uniform you are no more a tribal person because when you were taking the oath, you accepted that if your father, mother or any of your family commits a crime you will apply the law,\u201d Futuyo added.<\/p>\n

He also pledged to look after the welfare of the organized forces in the state to enable them effectively carry out their duties.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the Western Equatoria State Police Commissioner Major. Gen. Albino Mariano said the cars will be deployed to counties which have been experiencing security concerns including Tambura, Mundri and Yambio.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy deputy will be in the headquarters here with one car, the second is Yambio County, one new car under the responsibility of Major. Gen Hussain Girisi,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIbba and Maridi will have one car, Mundri will have one car and Tambura also will have one new car,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

The police, however, said one of the cars was destroyed after it was involved in an accident while from Juba but no casualty was reported.<\/p>\n
