Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>Two Kenyan domestic workers employed by a South Sudanese national in Nairobi were arraigned in court on Monday to answer to charges of theft of USD280,000 (KSh32 million) and handling of suspected stolen property.<\/p>\n

According to the Nation Media Group, Kenyan State Prosecutor James Machira revealed that Ruth Kageha Livole and Violet Engesa Aluse both employees of Ms. Atong Amos Agok Juac were arrested in Bungoma and Nairobi counties after a seven-day search.<\/p>\n

Machira told Senior Principal Magistrate Bernard Ochoi that the duo, charged with stealing USD280,000 (Sh32.4 million), three gold rings, and a black bag from the employer’s house in Karen’s Tipuwana Apartments in mid-April, were nabbed on April 28 and 29.<\/p>\n

Only Sh3 million (USD30,000) was recovered from the suspects at the time of their arrest, Machira revealed.<\/p>\n

The magistrate heard that the suspects were arrested by Police Constable Pamela Kaari. Aluse had Ksh580,000 (USD 5,000) in her possession while Livole had Ksh2.9 million (USD 25,000).<\/p>\n

The two denied the charges and were freed on bail of Sh5 million and Sh2 million for Livole and Aluse respectively.<\/p>\n

Detectives handling the case stated that they would continue with their investigations to establish if the two had solicited help from other workers at the apartment.<\/p>\n
