Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>Eastern Equatoria State Governor Louis Lobong Lojore has challenged the youth to go for elective posts in the 2022 forthcoming general election.<\/p>\n

The governor advised the youth to get themselves involved in productive activities rather than making negative propaganda on social media.<\/p>\n

\u201cI called on the youth to get prepared for the governance of the State,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

South Sudan is expecting to go for elections at the end of the transitional period next year.<\/p>\n

Lobong made the statement at the peace concert held at Freedom Square in Kapoeta on Thursday.<\/p>\n

The concert was aimed at promoting peace and social cohesion among communities in the state under the theme \u201cStand up for Peace Concert.\u201d<\/p>\n

He urged the people of Eastern Equatoria State to support the government in its search for peace and tranquillity.<\/p>\n

Lobong encouraged the citizens to prioritise food production, instead of depending on the relief food.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the same event, the UNMISS State Coordinator, Caroline Waudo, pledged to support the state government to sustain peace and champion developmental strategies.<\/p>\n

Despite countless efforts to restore peace in Eastern Equatoria State, there have been cases of insecurity, especially between the cattle herders and the host community, which caused massive loss of lives and displacement of civilians.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, over 20 people were killed in a cattle raid at Mugali village cattle camp, in Nimule, Eastern Equatoria State.<\/p>\n
