Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>The National Minister for Water Resources and Irrigation, Manawa Peter Gatkuoth, is representing South Sudan at the Sector-Minister\u2019s Conference convened and hosted by the government of Indonesia.<\/p>\n

The conference that is taking place at Indonesia\u2019s capital, Jakarta, seeks to address challenges of water, health and economy, for the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal (6) by 2030.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe programme aims to address what they calls three-triple crisis such as challenges on Water, Health and economy which the forum perceived to have been disturbing their efforts to achieve Sustainable Development Goal,\u201d the statement from the ministerial press read.<\/p>\n

The six \u201coutcome-oriented targets\u201d include: Safe and affordable drinking water; end open defecation. It also provides for access to sanitation and hygiene, improve water quality, waste water treatment and safe reuse, increase water-use efficiency and ensure freshwater supplies, implement IWRM, protect and restore water-related ecosystems.<\/p>\n

The aforementioned, according to the ministry, would be achieved by expanding water and sanitation to developing countries.<\/p>\n

\u201cGatkuoth in a ministerial dialogue on the role of Political Leadership has highlighted key strategies and practical efforts the country has undertaken towards achieving Sustainable Water,\u201d the statement continued.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe also reminded the forum about Water Master Plan taken by his Ministry and other line Ministries to address the challenges facing citizens in those areas.\u201d<\/p>\n

The minister l was accompanied by Gattiek Gatkuoth Wichar, the Press Secretary.<\/p>\n
