In a statement seen by Nyamilepedia this morning, President Sisi sent a message of condolences to Kiir, First Vice President, Dr. Riek Machar, and South Sudan\u2019s government and people.<\/p>\n

Minister Manawa died on Sunday morning at a hospital in the Egyptian capital Cairo at 5:00am according to Information Minister, Michael Makuei Lueth.<\/p>\n

Makuei, who is also the government spokesperson, told reporters on Sunday that the minister was rushed to Egypt on Friday for further treatment after he suffered from what he called \u201d cardiac arrest \u201d in Juba.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe cause of death remains unclear. But the late was suffering from heart disease. He was admitted to a hospital for two days here in Juba, but he was evacuated to Egypt on Friday for further treatment,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Manawa was appointed as the minister in March 2020 on SPLM (IO) in Unity government following the formation Revitalized Transitional Government of National Unity that came into effect on February 22, 2020.<\/p>\n

Manawa was a senior member of the Sudan People\u2019s Liberation Movement-in-Opposition (SPLM-IO). He also served as minister of physical infrastructure in Jonglei state before the conflict in December 2013.<\/p>\n
