Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>President Salva Kiir has declared a three-day of national mourning following the death of former Water Resources and Irrigation Minister Peter Manawa Gatkuoth.<\/p>\n

Gatkuoth died on June 19, in Cairo, just two days after he was evacuated to Egypt for specialised treatment.<\/p>\n

He had complained of chest pain.<\/p>\n

A casket carrying his remains arrived in Juba on Monday, June 27 and headed straight to Midan (Ground) Simba for a public mass.<\/p>\n

Manawa will be buried in the same ground.<\/p>\n

President Salva Kiir led top government officials to the mass where the public also go an opportunity to view Manawa\u2019s body.<\/p>\n

\u201cW are now mourning a young man who died prematurely. We have lost a great man.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe (Manawa) has left behind a family. If you come across them, take care of them. Give them whatever they need,\u201d said the President.<\/p>\n

President Kiir further directed the flag to fly at half-mast in all government institutions, adding that the nation will observe a three-day mourning period.<\/p>\n
