Africa-Press<\/a> – South-Sudan<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Kuel Aguer Kuel’s health condition has continued to deteriorate despite receiving treatment at a private hospital in Juba city, as his family appeals for bail to transfer him to Khartoum for further treatment.<\/p>\n

Aguer, the former caretaker governor of Northern Bahr el Ghazal State and a signatory to a document by the People\u2019s Coalition for Civil Action (PCCA) calling for mass demonstrations to demand the resignation of President Kiir and First Vice President Riek Machar, was detained by the National Security Service in Juba in early August.<\/p>\n

However, his health condition deteriorated after he was moved to the Juba Central Prison. The family says Aguer was taken to the Promise Hospital in Juba over the weekend, guarded by security personnel from the Criminal Investigations Department.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Wednesday, his daughter Adhel Kuel Aguer appealed for bail so that her father can be transferred out of the country for further medical attention.<\/p>\n

\u201cYes, he was released to us on Saturday around midday. He is currently at Promise Hospital but the level of diabetes and hypertension is very high in his body, he is also vomiting nonstop,” Adhel said. “We are begging the authorities to allow our relatives to bail him so that we can take him somewhere because the doctor recommended that he must be taken for further treatment. The doctors have tried their best, but they didn\u2019t control the situation until now he is not able to walk.”<\/p>\n

Adhel said if her father is allowed to seek treatment out of the country, he will return to face his charges. “We are doing our best to refer him to Khartoum and that he comes back to continue with his case normally. We are expecting today the public prosecutor to approve the bail so that the father will be referred to Khartoum on Friday if the government agrees,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Kuel Aguer Kuel signed the PCCA declaration as a representative of the South Sudan intellectuals group together with civil society activist Rajab Mohandis and Abraham Awolich, a renowned researcher from the national think-tank the Sudd Institute.
