Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>The prices of corn has fallen by upto 50 per cent in Northern Bahr el Ghazal.<\/p>\n

The drastic changes in the commodities moved in favourably following the arrival of 25 trucks loaded with essential food stuff, from Sudan.<\/p>\n

According to the state Minister of Information in Northern Bahr el Ghazal State, William Kuol, seven trucks arrived in the state Wednesday, bringing the total number of deliveries to 25 after the arrival of the previous 18 .<\/p>\n

Kuol said that the price of 3.5 kilograms of maize was now retailing at SSP2500, down from the initial price of SSP5,000 charged in most countries.<\/p>\n

\u2018\u2018They can buy as much corn as they want,\u201d said Kuol.<\/p>\n

He revealed that all the counties in the state had received their share of the first batch that came from Sudan.<\/p>\n

\u201cAweil East was the first county that took its share of corn (Dura) because of its proximity to Sudan, as well as the counties of Aweil West, Aweil South, Aweil North, and Aweil East.\u201d<\/p>\n

The minister decried the dilapidated state of roads that he believed was preventing the smooth distribution of the food to the deserving population.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe face the challenges of poor roads. We are trying as a state to maintain the roads according to the budget we have. We have sent a group before to maintain the road, but the road has become bad again and the rain is falling heavily these days. \u201c<\/p>\n

He expressed confidence in the security situation, saying the state is calm, except for the occasional criminal activity.<\/p>\n
