Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>The National Revenue Authority (NRA) is targeting to surpass revenue collection by 30 per cent.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, NRA Commissioner-General Patrick Mugoya, briefed President Salva Kiir on about their five-year Strategic Plan and Human Resources Policies that wait for approval by the national government.<\/p>\n

The tax collector has elaborate plans to increase the non-oil revenue by all means possible.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf this five years strategic plan (2022-2027) is approved by the government and implemented accordingly, it will transform the NRA to the level of other National Revenue Authorities in the region and enhances the collection of non-oil revenues in the country,\u201d Mugoya said<\/p>\n

To do this, Mugoya argues, there is need to brood local human resources through training.<\/p>\n

He also appealed to the president to give the authority power to hire and retain employees.<\/p>\n

Kiir however called for transparency adding that under dealings would jeopardies the gains made so far in ahaving alternative sources of revenue to oil.<\/p>\n

In May 2022, the governor of Central Equatoria State, Emmanuel Adil Anthony, urged National Revenue Authority (NRA) to sensitise the population on taxation.<\/p>\n

\u201cSome people see tax as punishment and we have to eradicate that,\u201d Adil stated.<\/p>\n

The NRA Commissioner-General said the revenue collection had increased in the fiscal year 2020-2021.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am happy to report as of 30th, April 2022, NRA has already surpassed its target as actual non-oil revenue collection by the end of April amounts to SSP64.4 billion,\u201d Mugoya revealed.<\/p>\n

The government of South Sudan set a revenue target of SSP58.2 billion pounds for the year 2021-2022.<\/p>\n
