Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>The ministry of water resources and irrigation has urges the citizens not to tribalize or politicize the government initiative to dredge Nam River in Unity State of aquatic weeds and impediments blocking water flow.<\/p>\n

In a statement to Sudans Post, Gattiek Gatkuoth Wichar, an official of the ministry of water resources and irrigation and a spokesman to late minister Manawa, said some people are not aware on how government works and as a result they are taking the dredging initiative from tribal and political viewpoint.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is true that some of us may not be aware of how the government does its things and I have been observing this misconception these two days especially after the citizens realized that most of the Vice Presidents support dredging and many citizens reacted negatively and took it personal also when Dr. Riek Machar and Hon. Michael Makuei told secretariat not to change whatever resolution which is already passed in the Council of Ministers,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut from there any citizen in a good conscious could definitely understand that the project is a gov\u2019t-led project which has nothing to do with political affiliation and ethnicity as it is being misconstrued on social media by many,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

He said \u201cAnyone who excludes president out of the project might not be well informed on how the government works especially the function of \u201cCouncil of Ministers\u201d. If we say the project was passed in the Council of Ministers please be educated that the one who chairs Council Minister\u2019s Meetings every Friday is the President himself.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is the point I want you to understand very clear for your information so that when you want to critique the decision of dredging start it from the top up to the bottom instead of insulting selectively.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would advise you to shout on the entire Reconstituted Transitional Government of National Unity (R-TGoNU) not individuals or communities as the case now because the flood-affected communities support the project because it is being planned to rescue them from devastating flooding which has submerged their homes and negatively affected their lives and livelihoods.\u201d<\/p>\n
