Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>The South Sudan Workers Trade Union Federation (SSWTF) has challenged workers in the oil sector to embrace unity to have the unified human resources policy implemented.<\/p>\n

Speaking in a one-day consultative meeting on Saturday, the Chairperson of the Worker\u2019s Trade Union of Petroleum and Mining, Dut Baak Wol, decried lack of commitment from oil sector workers, adding they had not remitted membership fees.<\/p>\n

\u201cSouth Sudan Workers Trade Union Federation (SSWTF) leadership directs all sub-offices of the Workers\u2019 Trade Union of Petroleum and Mining from the month of July 2022 to deduct monthly subscriptions.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSince the formation of the Union, there has been no what so-called monthly subscription because the Unified Human Resource policy is the guideline to be implemented because we need the implementation to be health implementation as all of us agreed,\u201d Mr. Wol said.<\/p>\n

He added that the union welcomed the government\u2019s directives to oil operators to implement the unified human resource policy manual.<\/p>\n

On February 23, the ministry of petroleum signed a deal to harmonise and implement a unified human resource policy manual after a couple of years of intermittently laying down tools in protest of what they termed unfair variances in pay between local and foreign workers.<\/p>\n

According to the Minister of Petroleum, Puot Kang Chuol, the joint operating oil sector companies comprising DAR Petroleum Operating Company (DPOC), Greater Pioneer Operating Company (GPOC), and Sudd Petroleum Operating Company (SPOC) had taken a while to come up with an agreeable consensus.<\/p>\n
