Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>The government of Jonglei State condemned what it called the \u201cinhumane killing\u201d of two civilians in Bor town on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

This follows after an unknown assailant stormed the former premises of OXFAM based in Pakwau and committed the heinous act. The acting governor, Jacob Akech Dengdit, called on the residents of Bor Town to remain calm as the state government and security organs are investigating the incident.<\/p>\n

In the press statement released yesterday, Dengdit said he was optimistic that the suspects would be arrested and charged.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe condemn such barbaric acts in the strongest terms. This inhumane act is uncalled for and doesn\u2019t reflect the true values of the people of Jonglei State.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur people are peace-loving and accommodative of other people from all walks of life and therefore, we are working to ensure that such peace is not disturbed by anyone,\u201d Akech stressed.<\/p>\n

He added that they would continue to monitor the situation and provide necessary mechanisms to ensure that there are no security lapses.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, Jonglei State police spokesperson, Maj. Daniel Majak Tuor, said, \u201cTwo people are confirmed dead, a woman identified as Mary Nyaruop and a man called Bingo, while one man is receiving treatment at the protection of civilian site at UNIMSS but in a critical condition.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added that police authorities were conducting investigations on the matter and that no suspect had been arrested yet.<\/p>\n

In November 2021, a similar incident occurred when two people were killed in a road ambush while heading to Mareng Village in Bor County. This escalated into a rampage of revenge killings where seven traders from Pibor were killed in Bor.<\/p>\n
