Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>Dr. Chol Deng Thon Abel, Managing Director and CEO of South Sudan\u2019s national oil and gas company, Nile Petroleum Corporation (Nilepet), showcased the parastatal\u2019s support for the upcoming South Sudan Oil & Power (SSOP) 2022 conference. The event takes place on 13-14 September 2022 at the Radisson Blu in Juba.<\/p>\n

The organizer, Energy Capital & Power, is proud to work with Nilepet again in 2022 as the Host Sponsor and notes the national oil company\u2019s strong leadership and outreach to international partners and all local stakeholders as part of the event.<\/p>\n

Speaking during a media briefing on August 1 in Juba, Dr. Abel discussed the values and opportunities of SSOP 2022, highlighting the purposes, themes and expectations of the conference, while promoting that the east African country\u2019s vibrant upstream sector is ripe with business opportunities and ready to welcome international partners.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe conference is an opportunity to showcase the abundance of oil resources that South Sudan has,\u201d Dr. Abel stated, adding, \u201cSouth Sudan, as a country and as a pioneer in East Africa, offers a wealth of training opportunities for engineers and geo-scientists from east African countries that have discovered oil. We encourage them to come here and make use of the training that they can get in the field.\u201d<\/p>\n

South Sudan currently has 13 exploration blocks that have yet to be assigned, with this year\u2019s conference poised to showcase these blocks to international companies seeking to participate in the country\u2019s nascent oil and gas exploration and production industry, he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Ministry of Petroleum of the Republic of South Sudan is inviting companies for new licensing opportunities. The Ministry is gearing up for another licensing round. During the conference, South Sudan will showcase the blocks that are unassigned. The opportunities that the conference brings are enormous,\u201d continued Dr. Abel.<\/p>\n

Nilepet\u2019s Managing Director and CEO went on to emphasize that international and local participation in the sector will translate to more job opportunities and experience for the country\u2019s local and youthful population, and will result in improved socioeconomic growth and a more stable business environment for South Sudan.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe previous conferences that were conducted here demonstrated that South Sudan is ready for business. When international companies come to South Sudan, they will interact with national companies, and that will be translated into more partnerships and more joint ventures for Nilepet,\u201d concluded Dr. Abel.<\/p>\n

Taking place under the theme, \u201cGateway to East African Energy,\u201d on September 13-14 in South Sudan\u2019s capital city Juba, the fifth edition of SSOP will be held in official partnership with the Ministry of Petroleum and the Ministry of Energy and Dams.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s event will serve as the premier international forum driving business and investment in East Africa\u2019s sole oil producing market and will emphasize the role that energy companies play in ensuring the growth of the national economy.<\/p>\n
